About Us

Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists (MORC)is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to safeguarding the future of mountain biking in Minnesota through the promotion of responsible riding, establishment and maintenance of mountain biking trails, and preservation of Minnesota’s natural resources.

History

  • 1994 the North Central Mountain Bike Group became an established non-profit with purpose of being a statewide organization to further mountain biking in Minnesota.
  • 1998 the Board of Directors changed the organization’s name to Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists (MORC)
  • 2011 MORC became one of the first organizations to join the Chapter program of the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA).
  • 2017 MORC reestablishes itself as an independent nonprofit organization

 

Opportunities

Today MORC focuses on Twin Cities trail development and maintenance, dividing our time and resources among 12 trail systems & the Cottage Grove Bike Park.

  • Welcomed Penn Cycle​as a Diamond Level​Partner
  • Set yearly priorities & delegated to 5 standing Committees
  • Annual strategic planning sessions held (January & November, 6­8 hours each)
  • Co­hosted Carver Lake Cold Catfish Cup
  • Attended Metropolitan Regional Arts Council Grant Writing workshop
  • Attended Quality Bicycle Product’s Frostbike
  • Awarded $10,000​grant courtesy of REI
  • Attended Chaska city meetings (Mammoth Trails)
  • Partnered with City of Monticello in submitting RTP Grant
  • Hosted 3rd Annual Trail Steward & Dirt Boss Summit
  • Supported City of Stillwater Brown’s Creek initiative (SASCA)
  • Tabled at Midwest Mountaineering Outdoor Adventure Spring & Fall Expos
  • Attended Bike Alliance of MN annual meeting
  • Presented at Pedal MN Bicycle Conference
  • attended Penn Cycle Thursday night BuckHill races
  • Hosted Niner & Angry Catfish bikecamping event at Carver Lake
  • Partnered with Twin Cities Tour de Cure
  • Awarded $500​grant courtesy of ClifBar
  • Partnered with REI for National Trails Day at Salem Hills
  • Attended IMBA’s Great Midwest MTB Summit
  • Hosted Keen Urban Assault Ride
  • Launched new MORCmtb.org​website
  • Advocated for singletrack within the MN River Bottoms
  • Secured Surly Brewing​as Title Sponsor​for 2015 MORC Masquerade Gala
  • Co­hosted New Belgium Tour de Fat
  • Partnered with MN High School Cycling League​to reward student volunteers
  • Hosted IMBA Trail Care Crew visit
  • Twin Cities named IMBA Bronze Level Ride Center
  • City of Cottage Grove approves to accept $150,000​RTP Grant
  • Advocate Cycles​commits 1% of annual profits​to MORC
  • MORC Masquerade Ball​increased proceeds by 47% ​thanks to: Surly Brewing, Advocate Cycles, *Angry Catfish, *Dakota Valley OMS,QBP, Fresh Start Body Wipes, and many more supporters of trails
  • Invested over $40,000​directly towards ‘Gaining and Maintaining Trails’
  • Bertram Chain of Lakes Singletrack ­ Constructed new trail
  • Salem Hills ­ Trail rehab & REI National Trail Day
  • Cottage Grove Bike Park ­ unscheduled repairs following heavy rains
